Why Does Bishop Fear Altschuler? FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Scared Incumbent Tries to Block Opponent from Public Meeting Rob Ryan, Senior Communications advisor to Randy Altschuler, the conservative Republican candidate for Congress (NY-1) today blasted four term liberal incumbent congressman Tim Bishop for trying to block Altschuler from attending the Oil Spill Summit in East Hampton. In a June 3, 2010 story in the East Hampton Star, reported that Congressman Tim Bishop personally called East Hampton Town Supervisor Bill Wilkinson to tell him that the invitation of Altschuler to the meeting "was not something he thought was appropriate." Rob Ryan said, "Congressman Tim Bishop's high handed attitude is disgraceful. The fact that Congressman Bishop and his staff would attempt to block Randy Altschuler from participating in public meeting smacks of partisan politics at its worst. Last summer Tim Bishop didn't want to listen to his constituents. This summer he doesn't want to listen to Randy Altschuler. His strong arm tactics have no place in Suffolk County or in America. It's probably because Randy Altschuler is the Conservative Party nominee and the frontrunner for the Republican nomination that Tim Bishop is so afraid. He should apologize to his constituents and Supervisor Wilkinson for his actions and come to grips with the fact that Randy Altschuler will defeat him in November."
