EAST SETAUKET, NY: Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner announced today that she is endorsing Randy Altschuler for US Congress in New York's First Congressional District.

"Having proudly started my career in public service with local civic groups and organizations, I understand first-hand that effective representation at any level of government begins with putting the interests of one's community first," Councilwoman Bonner said. "Randy Altschuler is a successful businessman, and a proven job creator for New York families who understands what it will take to get our local economy moving again."

"Our communities need an advocate in Washington who understands the challenges we face on a daily basis and we'll have a partner in Randy. I am honored to endorse his candidacy for Congress, and I look forward to assisting his campaign and working with him when he becomes our next congressman," Jane Bonner concluded.

"On November 3rd the Conservative Party broke turnout records and carried strong principled candidates, such as Councilwoman Jane Bonner, into positions of elected leadership in our towns and on the Suffolk County Legislature," Altschuler said. "Jane Bonner is a true conservative who has unselfishly dedicated her entire career to reforming town government and making Brookhaven a better place to live. I'm proud to have Jane's support and counsel and together we'll work to carry conservative principles, accountability and honest representation for the people of the First Congressional District from our town halls to Congress."

Councilwoman Jane Bonner, a registered Conservative Party member, was elected to the Town Council in 2007 to represent northeastern Brookhaven in the Second Town District. In 2009 Jane Bonner was reelected by her constituents with more than 54 percent of the vote. Prior to her election to the Brookhaven Town Council, Jane served as president of the Rocky Point Civic Association, was a former Trustee on the Rocky Point Board of Education and sat as a board member with the Rocky Point Property Owner's Association.

Randy Altschuler is a businessman, former Fulbright Scholar and graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Business School. He is married to Cheryl Altschuler, MD, a practicing pediatrician in Shirley and Port Jefferson, New York. They have a young son, Noah, and reside in St. James, New York.
