Mother's Day is a wonderful occasion where many of us gather together to honor all of the extraordinary women in our lives.

Growing up in a single-parent household, my mother exemplified strength and care in her ability to provide for her two sons. Mothers serve as more than just a role model; they help to form the foundation of a loving family. Mothers find the time to orchestrate bake sales, lead in government and run successful businesses. Mothers lead employees in industry and loving families within the four walls of their home. They contribute to every facet of our communities and make our country stronger.

While we all take the time to express our gratitude for our own mothers today, let us all also pause to recognize the blue and gold star mothers and spouses of the military service members who fight in defense of our nation. We are forever grateful for your sacrifices and hardships, and we remain inspired by your strength.
