Lets Get to Work

Tuesday's elections were a win for working men and women and a major defeat for the politicians that support government-run health care, higher taxes, bailouts for Wall Street, and massive deficit spending.

Conservatives and Republicans across Long Island and around America sent a clear message to Nancy Pelosi and her ally in Congress, Tim Bishop, that more government and higher taxes do not foster job creation nor will it end this recession. Here at home, families and senior citizens rejected the "change" which Albany and Washington are offering the taxpayers of New York.

Conservative Republicans won governorships in New Jersey and Virginia because voters instinctively understood that Democrat policy prescriptions are hurting our small businesses.

The election of 2010 begins now. To take back our country we must take back Congress - and that means retiring Tim Bishop.

Tim Bishop's votes make him accountable for leading our country further and further down a dangerous path of financial instability and uncertainty. Together we will build upon our momentum and send Washington a message which cancelled town halls cannot stifle.

We will not support fiscally dangerous cap and trade legislation which will drive up utility costs on the backs of our already struggling middle class as well as small businesses.

We will not allow a $1 trillion government-run takeover of our nation's health care system which separates patients from doctors and amounts to a federal takeover of one-sixth of our national economy.

We will continue to fight against the growth of government and higher taxes on hardworking American families and businesses.

I am committed to taking this fight to every town in the First Congressional District because we need a new way of doing business in Washington. We must work to assure the financial stability for future generations of Americans. It starts with listening to the people of the First District and putting their interests above your own. It's time for Washington to get the message that government is supposed to serve the people, not the other way around.

Tuesday evening was a cause to reflect upon our successes and now we get to work. It's time to build upon the precedent set forth by our victories and move our country forward again. With your help, we can change the spending habits and the culture of big government in Washington.
