Happy Thanksgiving

November 25, 2009 1:29 PM

by Randy & Cheryl Altschuler

Thanksgiving is a time when Americans everywhere remember the story of the Pilgrims who bravely ventured across an ocean seeking freedom and a better life for their families.

At Thanksgiving, we gather with our families and friends and express our gratitude for all that we have been blessed with, the freedoms we enjoy and the loved ones who mean so much to us.

We are grateful to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who protect our freedoms while setting aside their own safety and the comforts of home. We express our gratitude to our wounded and to the memory of our fallen heroes; our country remains safe because of their sacrifices. Especially during the holidays, we keep all of them and their families in our thoughts and prayers.

We are grateful to our border patrol agents, our firefighters, our law enforcement officers and our first responders, so many of whom are vigilantly serving at their posts on Thanksgiving Day and all year round.

We are grateful for our caring community here on Long Island that reaches out with a helping hand to those in need or those facing tough times, mindful of the importance of sharing with others.

We are grateful to be Americans, enjoying the freedoms and liberty that the Pilgrims sought so many years ago.
